Partners visit INPRE’s facility to see blade manufacturing process
The NEMMO project partners met in Spain on 6 April to share their progress on developing the novel design of a tidal turbine blade. The design of the new tidal blade is nearing completion, with manufacturing of the blades scheduled to begin next month.
The project team also took this opportunity to visit INPRE’s manufacturing facility to learn about the blade production process. INPRE also produces turbine nacelles for the wind industry, so it was possible to see each stage of the process first-hand – layering the fibreglass fabric pieces, injecting and curing the resin, and the finishing of the final pieces. The partners also had their first glimpse of the mould of the new blade, and were able to study test sections of the blade shell.
