Blade Test Centre A/S (also known as BLAEST) is a leading independent provider of full-scale structural testing of wind turbine blades. The testing is performed to verify the strength of the blade structure and is a mandatory part of the type certification scheme for wind turbines.

BLAEST is located at the Port of Aalborg in Denmark, with a 5000 m2 test hall. The organisation counts 25 people, mainly engineers and technicians. The company was established in 2005 and is owned by the Danish Technical University (DTU), Force Technology and DNV GL.

CANOE is a French R&T centre which is focused onto nanocharged and nanostructured polymer formulation, manufacturing process and testing for advanced materials (fiber, coating….) and fiber-reinforced composites.

CANOE employs a staff of 35 chemistry/materials engineers and technicians. The major objective is to support companies in the development of new technologies (product/process) through continuous pilot line capabilities (from TRL3 to TRL6): R&D services (feasibility study, prototyping, scale-up demonstration, materials testing….), R&D cooperative projects, training courses.

CANOE mainly address the following application sectors: transportation (aerospace, automotive, ship building), renewable energy (solar, wind and tidal blades), green chemistry, sustainable building and health care.

The DCU Water Institute is a technology-focused research Institute that generates knowledge and informs decision making towards more sustainable use of our water resource.

Funditec is a private non-profit organisation located in Madrid. In 2018, Funditec changed its business model from policy making and social innovation to R+D by the creation of two strategic lines: advanced materials and cybersecurity.

Today, Funditec plays a key role in the value chain of technology development offering sustainable and secure R&D projects to its industrial clients and partners according to current economic and societal needs. Funditec’s expert team has more than nine years of experience in the technical execution and management of projects with a track record of more than 40 R&D projects.

Inpre, a company established in 1988, designs, develops and manufactures glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP or GFRP) products, with special focus in small series and large sizes. Our main market is the wind power sector, where we accumulate 25 years of experience manufacturing nacelle covers and hub housings for wind turbines.

We are characterised by the agility when carrying out new projects and prototypes, with a proven network of suppliers for building plugs. The moulds are made internally, and our technical and organisational methods allow us to reduce times significantly.

ITA is a non-profit technology centre whose main objective is to promote competitiveness in the industrial sector by means of the development, acquisition, adaptation and transfer of innovative technologies. ITA offers its services with a clear market orientation, providing real and innovative solutions from its lines of research and development, which transform and accelerate the technological processes of companies or new challenges in our society.

The staff is composed of 226 employees, of which 84 are women and 43 hold a PhD degree. ITA is structured into different technological areas: Materials & Components, Mechatronics & Robotics, Power Electronics, IoT & Blockchain, and Big Data & Cognitive Systems.

Magallanes Renovables is a Spanish company established in 2009. Since its inception, we have tirelessly worked on the development of a floating platform to harness the energy of tidal currents and to convert it into electrical energy. The company relies on a multidisciplinary group of experts that have played a leading role in the success achieved so far: the deployment of its first full-scale floating tidal prototype in Orkney (Scotland).

Magallanes Renovables continues to make significant progress and aims to become a world leader in the commercialisation of floating platforms to generate clean energy from tidal currents.

Ocean Energy Europe (OEE) is the largest network of ocean energy professionals in the world. Over 120 organisations, including Europe’s leading utilities, industrialists and research institutes, trust OEE to represent the interests of Europe’s ocean energy sector.

Ocean Energy Europe’s mission is to create a strong environment for the development of ocean energy, improve access to funding, and enhance business opportunities for its members. To achieve this, OEE engages with the European Institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council, EIB, etc), and national ministries on policy issues affecting the sector.

As a not-for-profit organisation, every euro invested in OEE is used to promote the European ocean energy industry.

SP Nano is a nanotechnology startup company which utilizes an exceptionally stable genetically engineered protein (SP1) to disperse Carbon nanotubes, Graphene, Carbon black etc. in water, NMP or DMSO for usage in composites, tires, MRG, batteries and more.

As a second step, the SP1-Carbon nanoparticle complex can be dispersed in resins and/or used as a dye to coat surfaces or structural fibers/fabrics such as carbon, aramid and glass in standard textile dyeing machines. SP1 itself is a nanometric entity comprising a variety of functional groups & facilitating a diverse chemistry with different resins/polymers.

We are a dedicated partner that offers a wide range of maritime services, including ship design, energy optimisation, finding the most effective ways to interact with other types of transportation, and conducting maritime infrastructure studies together with safety and environmental risk assessments. In summary, SSPA’s mission is to help the maritime industry to reduce the energy consumption for the sector, which also include aiding Ocean Energy Conversion to develop into a feasible alternative renewable energy option. With our tools, our collective competence, our integrity and the trust of our clients, we aim to add value to any project we participate in.

For more than a century, the Technion has been Israel’s primary technological university and the largest centre of applied research in Israel. The Technion is currently the highest ranked Israeli university, according to The Shanghai Ranking Consultancy’s Academic Ranking of World Universities 2016, where it was placed 69th out of 500 universities around the world.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering’s Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (CFDLAB), which will undertake the research and innovation activities within this project, focuses on modelling and simulation of transitional and turbulent flows.
